Aim For Change was co-founded in 2023 by Desstoni Holman, owner of FAB Firearms Academy, and Drekkia Writes, creator of The Melanin Land.
Through creative photoshoots, educational events, and intentional networking experiences, Drekkia’s The Melanin Land gives women of color space to connect deeply — personally and professionally — while celebrating sisterhood and self-expression. When Desstoni saw the vision, she knew it aligned perfectly with FAB’s mission to empower women through safety, education, and self-protection.
Together, they decided to create a photoshoot that brought awareness to a cause close to both of their hearts: domestic violence. What began as an intimate, purpose-driven shoot quickly evolved into a viral movement. Behind-the-scenes clips shared online—simply because both are creators—spread across Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and X, reaching millions and sparking a wave of support.
Today, Aim For Change is an annual event powered by major sponsors and community partners. It raises awareness and funding for local organizations that share its mission of advocacy and empowerment. Women from all walks of life - survivors, advocates, professionals, and everyday women - come together to share their stories and their connection to domestic violence.
Not only do we aim to raise awareness, but also celebrate resilience, healing, and the right to self-protection. What started as one small idea has become a national call to action—a movement reminding women everywhere that their survival and safety are worth being seen.
Each year’s experience is intentionally limited to keep it personal, powerful, and purposeful. Add your name below to get early access to dates, updates, and exclusive opportunities.
We’re expanding into new cities and looking for local partners, photographers, and advocates who share our vision. Let us know where you are and why your city should be next.

No. Aim For Change is for any woman who believes in safety, community, and self-protection, whether you’ve personally experienced domestic violence or simply want to stand in solidarity and learn.
We aim to keep participation low-cost or fully sponsored through our partners. Final details are released once the date and venue are confirmed.
Because Aim For Change is an intentional, intimate experience, space is limited. While attendance guidelines such as guests, children, or plus-ones are dependent upon the venue, generally, these events are woman-only and minor children under 12 are not permitted.
